Terms and Conditions
These terms & conditions set out the basis on which Milu Guesthouse (us; we) will provide
accommodation to you (guest; booking person) and your accompanying guests. By making a booking, the booking person agrees to the terms & conditions stated in this document. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us before making a booking.
1.1. Bookings are made by e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org). After receiving your booking request, we shall contact you in less than 24 hours. We will provide all the info you may need, and we require you to make a 50% deposit of the total reservation value to secure your booking. After payment of the deposit, you will receive a confirmation and further instructions.
1.2. Any changes to the reservation are depending on availability and need to be confirmed by the host.
1.3. We do not accept bookings made by persons younger than 18 years old.
1.4. The minimum stay is two nights.
1.5. The booking person may be held responsible for cancellation, non-arrival and damages.
Only the person making the booking and their accompanying guests can use the property
and its facilities. Third-party visitors are not allowed, only if your request is confirmed in
advance by your hosts.
1.6. We reserve the right to cancel any booking without compensation, refund or
reimbursement if any of the terms & conditions are breached.
2. IDENTIFICATION & REGISTRATION AT SEF
2.1. When you check in, we require that you show a valid identification document for each
guest, including children. This applies to Portuguese and non-Portuguese guests.
2.2. For non-Portuguese guests (those who do not hold Portuguese nationality), we must
report your presence and details to the Portuguese Immigration and Borders Service (SEF
– Serviço de Estrangeiros e Fronteiras) within three weekdays of arrival. Details required
are Full name, Date of birth, Country of birth, Home address, Country of residence,
Nationality, Identity document, Number of document, Issuing country, Date of arrival and
Date of departure.
3.1. An advanced payment of a 50% deposit of the total reservation value is required when
making the booking. We accept the following forms of payment: bank transfer and PayPal.
3.2. The remaining payment must be paid on arrival. For this we accept the following forms of payment: cash, bank transfer and PayPal.
4. CANCELLATIONS AND NO-SHOW
4.1. If you need to cancel your booking, contact us as soon as possible.
4.2. If you make a booking and cancel within 24 hours after making the booking, you will not
be charged. This is not available for bookings made 48 hours or less before arrival.
4.3. The “cancellation fee” stated below is the total reservation value.
4.4. Cancellations made more than 30 days before the arrival date are free of a cancellation
4.5. Cancellations made 14 to 30 days before the arrival date are subject to a 50% cancellation
4.6. Cancellations made less than 14 days before the arrival date are subject to a 100%
4.7. In case of a no-show, the whole/remaining amount will be charged on the day of check-in.
4.8. Changes in your reservation that result in a shortened stay still require you to pay the
total reservation value.
4.9. In the rare event we need to cancel your booking with us, please be aware that we cannot be held liable for circumstances beyond our control. Our liability to you is limited to refunding of any payment already made. In this situation we will do anything in our power to help you find an alternative accommodation.
4.10. We recommend that you always take out travel and cancellation insurance.
5. CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT
5.1. Check-in is between 15:00 – 20:00 on the day of your arrival.
5.2. Check-out is From 7:00 – 10:00 on the day of your departure.
5.3. Depending on the availability of your hosts, late check-in is possible if confirmed in
advance by the hosts. Please get in touch with us as soon as possible.
6.1. Children 13 years and older are welcomed at Milu Guesthouse.
7. BOOKING THE ENTIRE HOUSE
7.1. If you book all of the rooms, please note that you will still be sharing the shared areas of
Milu Guesthouse with the owners (and if applicable, volunteers).
7.2. The maximum number of guests staying at Milu Guesthouse is limited to 14 persons.
8.1. We reserve the right to check the room if we are concerned about the well-being of
guests, improper use of the room or the condition of the room.
8.2. Every guest is entitled to a fresh-made bed and two towels. After seven consecutive
nights, we will change your bedsheets and towels free of charge and perform a basic
9. COVID-19 MEASURES
9.1. You agree to comply with the Portuguese government’s national COVID-19 measures
implemented in Portugal.
9.2. Milu Guesthouse has an operational internal contingency plan in effect regarding
10. WI-FI FAIR & APPROPRIATE USAGE
10.1. Where Wi-fi internet access is provided, guests accept to use this access to the internet fairly and appropriately. We may monitor network performance and user usage to maintain a fair and high level of service to all of our guests.
10.2. Access to illegal activity or using our network for unlawful activity is prohibited and will be reported to local authorities.
11. DAMAGES AND LOST PROPERTY
11.1. We reserve the right to charge the booking person for any damages or theft caused
through the course of a stay by your accompanying guests. This includes (but is not limited to) breakages, spillages, stains, damage to furniture or fixtures and fittings and
electric(al) devices. Any accidental damages should be reported as soon as possible to
minimize damage and associated costs. Theft will be reported to the local authorities.
11.2. Lost keys will incur a replacement charge per key of €15.
11.3. If discovered and found, any lost property left behind by guests during a stay will be held
for 1 month. While we do our best to reunite lost property with their owners, we accept
no responsibility for replacing lost items and encourage guests to ensure they have all
their belongings before checking out. We may offer to post lost items via delivery services
at the property owner’s cost. Otherwise, collection can be arranged.
12. CAMERA SECURITY SYSTEM
12.1. Milu Guesthouse operates a camera security system which follows the applicable laws for your and our safety. Cameras are located outside the house entrance, in the hallway, in the garage and in the living room. An information notice is located outside, next to the entrance.
13.1. Smoking inside is forbidden and is only allowed in the outside areas of Milu Guesthouse.
14.1. We do not accept pets throughout the accommodation, except for service dogs.
15.1. We have free parking available across the street. Guests park their vehicles at their own risk.
16.1. Milu Guesthouse may change and update these terms & conditions without notice.
However, the version of these terms & conditions in force at the time of the booking will
